Daniel Bagley Elementary School Modernization & Addition

Modernization of the existing 40,745-sf building. This project features a two-story classroom addition that added eight new classrooms, learning commons, and small group learning spaces. The new, full-size gym addition opens directly into a new covered play area. The former gym and multipurpose room have been converted into the new school library. Former play courts have been leveled and enclosed, serving as music and art space that looks out onto the playground. The Seattle Landmarks Review Board has designated some features of the building as landmarks, including the main stairways, the student dining hall, and the exterior. Care was taken to preserve or restore these historic features. The school has approximately 58,500-sf for up to 500 students, and consists of the 39,000-sf historic elementary, 13,000-sf classroom addition and 6,500-sf gymnasium addition.
