Demolition and replacement of the south portion of the west approach bridge and new construction of pedestrian and transit facilities, overpasses, improvements to the Montlake Blvd/SR-520 interchange, new park space, direct-access bus ramps and a transit plaza, and numerous trails to provide multi-modal connections across SR-520. Scope includes Illumination and ITS for interchange improvements which include rebuilding portions of SR-520/I-5 Interchange including 5 existing ramps, add new reversible HOV ramp at SR-520 and make the existing I-5/Mercer ramp reversible. The SR-520 project includes three highway lids provide local townships with urban parks. These lids offer open green spaces, transit connections, and walking and biking trails. Specifically, the SR-520 Montlake Project includes a three-acre lid with regional transit stops and green space, and the SR-520 Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid Project creates a landscaped lid connecting Seattle’s Roanoke Park and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods. Additionally, the 520 Trail, a 3-mile walking and biking path, runs along the north side of the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge.
