This plant covers approximately 32 acres of the Puget Sound Region next to the 534 acre Discovery Park. The plant treats wastewater and storm water, for approximately 1.4 million people in Seattle, Shoreline, north Lake Washington, north King County and parts of south Snohomish County. Seattle’s combined stormwater/wastewater sewer system also flows into West Point. Approximately 90 million gallons a day of wastewater is treated at this facility during the dry months. During the rain/storm season, West Point provides secondary treatment for flows up to 300 million gallons a day (mgd), and provides primary treatment and disinfection for flows exceeding 300 mgd, and up to 440 mgd. The project included an upgrade to 480V main distribution equipment to allow for electrical system coordination, an addition of motor control equipment, and replacement of facility SCADA system for modernization. This work was completed while plant was in operation and was completed without any unplanned shutdowns. Valley Electric possesses the labor and management skill to serve as a general contractor for a large project like this. High-levels of coordination are required for the WWSS job as there are limitations of space, parking, and storage, and we are going into an unprecedented time of long leads due to the global supply chain being impacted
