Premier on Pine Wins American Concrete Institute Award

Holland Partner Group’s Premiere on Pine residential tower won an award from the American Concrete Institute. It was one of 12 winners from around the world.  Premiere on Pine was awarded second place for high-rise buildings. The top award in that category went to Embassy Lake Terraces in Karnataka, India.

The 42-story Premiere on Pine was cited for using high-strength concrete and reinforcing steel to create maximum floor space on a small site. It’s the first building in Seattle to have 15,000 psi concrete in its columns, resulting in smaller columns than typically used in a tower of its size. This also allows concrete to be placed continuously through the slab penetrations eliminating the need for concrete puddling around the columns.

Also known at one time as 815 Pine, Premier on Pine is 488,193 square foot, 42-story residential tower located in downtown Seattle. The project includes 386 apartments with 265 parking stalls, a fitness room, library, conference center, multiple recreation spaces, and a dog run. Premier on Pine integrates many high-end finishes and residential amenities throughout the building. The tower is serviced by three passenger elevators and one freight elevator. The structure is post-tensioned concrete slabs with concrete shear core. The building enclosure system is curtain wall with operable vent windows. The project was designed, constructed and operated to achieve LEED silver certification.

The project team included Weber Thompson, architect; Cary Kopczynski & Co., structural engineer; Holland Construction, general contractor; The Conco Companies, concrete contractor; Stoneway Concrete, concrete supplier and Valley Electric, Design-Build Electrical Contractor.

The awards banquet was held Oct. 16, 2017 in Anaheim, California. The grand award was given to R•torso•C, a four-story concrete house built on a 710-square-foot lot in central Tokyo.  Entries for next year’s awards can be submitted until April 2 at
