It was a very productive construction day at Farmer Frog! On Saturday, September 30th, over 400 volunteers from the local architectural, construction, real estate and engineering firms – including family members (as young as 2!), siblings and friends joined in a fun filled day at Farmer Frog in Woodinville. The teams built (3) large garden ‘hoop houses’, (Team Valley was one of the hoop house builders), installed bear and split rail fencing, new roads, gates, a fruit orchard, new landscaping and dozens of plants and trees to beautify and expand the Farm. Located in northern Woodinville, Farmer Frog (a non-profit agency) is a sustainability Farm that creates and provides farming programs and a hands on growing experience to local schools and various organizations throughout the region. It also provides and donates food for numerous low income families throughout the King County area.
Description of the organization and event: Farmer Frog, a sustainable, educational farm in Woodinville, turns underutilized sites into environmentally sound, food-producing farms and gardens, providing a learning environment for students and families to grow food for themselves and their community. Farmer Frog’s long-term goal is to become a model to help other communities replicate their methodology. This project will be the catalyst to help them become a self-sufficient organization.
